Five structured programmes, each with a clear purpose, audience and route in. Some are free or subsidised for those who need them, others are paid and open to anyone.

Free & subsidised

Access & Opportunity Programme

Purpose: to remove the financial and social barriers that stop talented learners accessing good bioscience education.

Who it's for: learners experiencing financial barriers, widening-participation learners, international learners, people who have fled war and conflict, and early-career graduates.

What's provided: free or heavily subsidised tutoring, mentoring, CV and interview preparation, delivered one to one.

How to apply: contact us through Get Support and tell us your situation. Places are allocated according to need and capacity, we'll be upfront if we can't offer a place immediately.

Paid programme

Bioscience Learning Support

Purpose: subject-specific academic support in the life sciences.

Who it's for: GCSE and A-Level students, undergraduates and postgraduates in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, cell biology, molecular biology, microbiology, biotechnology, bioinformatics and biomedical sciences.

What's provided: personalised one to one and small group tutoring, mock exam preparation, dissertation and research support, and viva preparation.

Format: online, flexible scheduling around school, university or work.

Paid programme

Nexus BioEd Mentorship Programme

Purpose: structured, ongoing mentoring for learners, postgraduate researchers and early-career academics navigating their next step.

Who it's for: university students, postgraduate researchers, and early-career academics preparing for fellowship, publication or a first academic post.

What's provided: regular one to one mentoring sessions, research and career planning, and academic writing or fellowship application support.

Format: online, delivered on a recurring schedule agreed with each mentee.

Paid programme

Academic Development

Purpose: support for academic and professional progression within Higher Education.

Who it's for: new and existing lecturers, and academics working toward HEA Fellowship or curriculum leadership.

What's provided: mentoring toward AFHEA, FHEA and SFHEA routes, teaching practice development, and academic writing support.

Format: online, one to one or in short structured blocks.

Educational Outreach

Purpose: bioscience and STEM engagement for schools, colleges and community organisations.

Who it's for: schools, colleges and community organisations looking to build bioscience enthusiasm and widen participation in the life sciences.

What's provided: outreach sessions, taster workshops, and widening-participation initiatives, scoped to the organisation's needs.
